The real beauty of Margate

I last posted about my weekend in the seaside town of Margate on the north Kent coast of England, and whilst Margate is enjoying a bit of a revival as a tourist destination it is still a little rough around the edges (which I actually kind of like)…

Depending on your outlook of the world there is graffiti – or street art – adorning blank walls down side streets; there are rusty and peeling railings – or a nostalgic reminder of the different eras of paint that have weathered the bracing sea air – along the promenade; there are near-derilict concrete staircases – or wonderful examples of brutalist architecture – leading visitors down to the beach; and there is beauty to be found in all things.
