Venice, Italy

Venice is one of the most magical places I have ever been to, and such a photogenic place. I love this photograph for its crumbly buildings which you can see partly submerged under the waterline. I also like how it shows the grand canal as a lifeblood for transportation around the city, with a couple of gondolas, a private speedboat and a river taxi upon the water.

Top tip for Venice: I recommend visiting in February, although you might want to check when Carnival falls around this time. I found Venice warm and bright at this time of year, hardly a cloud in the sky and no need for a winter coat, and no bad river/sewer smells which you hear of in the summer months.
