Les Cerniers, Switzerland
Who needs to be able to ski to visit the Swiss Alps? We stayed at the Whitepod resort at 5,500ft in Les Cerniers and lodged in zero impact canvas pods (complete with wood burning stove and fur blankets). The air is so crisp and the views whatever time of day are simply glorious. This was the perfect escape to while away a couple of days and recharge in the middle of a week-long Interrail trip through Europe.
Top tip for Les Cerniers: There is not much to do off resort (although this is less of a resort with one private ski run and a handful of sleeping pods) but Whitepod can arrange lots of activities even if you do not ski. We went paragliding, sledging and snow shoeing.
